I liked the fact that the buildings were made specifically for the Montessori Environment. The location is away from pollution and the worst of the traffic. The school is small enough for the children to all know each other. The classrooms are large and open and welcome children’s creativity and curiosity. Just like in a family, you have children of different ages in one classroom, which I thought was a plus since our daughter was an only child for 4 years. The fact that this was a certified Montessori school was also one of the reasons why I wanted my daughter to go here. All this before I had even met the teachers and staff, who turned out to be very professional and lovely.

Emma has benefited in many ways from attending JMS. Most notable is the diverse and broad range of her progress over the past two years. Such advancement puts her in good stead for future schooling and is a reflection of the calibre and quality of the teaching staff at JMS. Initially when enrolling my first son in pre-school, I visited many pre-schools to find one which I liked, but that also had an active awareness of allergies and how to deal with a young child with severe allergies. I found many other pre-schools had no awareness what so ever of allergies and the dangers/responsibilities associated. I was delighted when I found that Jakarta Montessori School covered both these criteria. They had past students with severe allergies and the staff were aware and prepared to deal with a child with these special needs. I was completely unaware of Montessori methods and just wanted a happy and safe pre-school for my son. I have since fallen in love with the Montessori methods of teaching and am constantly amazed how well behaved and happy the children of JMS are. My son has happily attended JMS for almost 3 years and his younger brother has now joined the toddler class. I happily recommend JMS to any parent as my pre-school of choice.

Yasmine started to attend the Jakarta Montessori School when she was 18 months old. We chose this school because we always wanted her to be educated according to the Montessori philosophy. After visiting several pre-schools in South Jakarta, we chose JMS because of the warm and friendly atmosphere and the personal approach towards children. We were happy to see that JMS provides a child friendly environment where children can get familiar with real life experiences. At JMS, Yasmine had the freedom to explore this aspect, while learning to become an independent child at the same time. These are essential parts of the Montessori way of educating children. Yasmine, now 4 years old, is an independent child who is motivated to explore her environment on her own. For instance, she persists at putting on and taking off her shoes by herself. Thanks to the Montessori education she received at JMS, Yasmine is not only an independent and young child able to concentrate on everything she does, but also displays an organised way of handling situations, remaining at all times respectful towards others. Our child has learned the three main words in life: LOVE, INDEPENDENCE and RESPECT!!!!

My sons have been going to Jakarta Montessori School since March 2006. Due to the fact that at that time we had just arrived in Jakarta from Korea, neither of my sons could speak English at all, so I had to find a school in which my sons could easily adjust to the new surroundings. After looking around many schools, I was attracted by JMS because of the large grassed areas, the excellent facilities and the good education materials. As well as this, the teachers and staff seemed to be kind and approachable. Now both my sons’ abilities to communicate in English are getting better and they have been exposed to many different educational experiences, such as art, music, gym, etc. I have been really satisfied with my sons’ schooling since enrolling them at JMS.
