 Hello, my name is Ning DeRidder. I was born and raised in Bangkok, Thailand, and am married with two daughters. I have a Bachelor of Education Degree, teaching middle school for my practicum. After graduation I explored a range of career opportunities, including non-profit administration and financial management, public relations, teaching refugees, and managing a foster children’s program. It was these last two positions that helped me realized I’m most happy working with children. I first used the Montessori teaching method during my work in a UN refugee camp in Thailand. Over five years as a teacher and teacher trainer I found the Montessori Method worked well with students of all level and ages, 5 to 70. This experience inspired me to enrol in the Early Childhood Certification Course when I moved to Indonesia, receiving my Diploma in 1999. I taught in Jakarta Montessori School before moving to Sri Lanka in 2002. Returning to Jakarta in 2008, I am happy to be back at JMS again, teaching at my favourite school. I’m also working for another Diploma, for Lower Primary level.
